Are you debating trying tirzepatide? Trying to see what the risks versus benefits are? Are you on the fence and just need that little nudge to help your weight loss journey? I’m here to explain to you some of the long term benefits of tirzepatide.

Tirzepatide, like any other medication, is gonna have its pros and cons. Tirzepatide works by making you feel fuller quicker, slowing down your digestive process (keeping you feeling full longer), and ultimately has less side effects than most GLP-1 therapies.

A study done from 2019-2022, on those at risk of type 2 diabetes, showed tirzepatide reduced that risk by 94%. Those in the study who were receiving tirzepatide sustained their weight loss throughout the three year period.

In a study conducted in 2022, tirzepatide assisted participants in losing 20% of their body weight throughout a 36 week period. 36 weeks into the trial 670 participants were randomly selected to either continue with tirzepatide for another 52 weeks or receive a placebo. Those who received the placebo regained about half of the weight they lost. Whereas those who continued to receive tirzepatide lost around an additional 5.5%.

Tirzepatide has also been seen to decrease HbA1c levels. HbA1c is a blood test that takes the average blood sugar levels from a few months and is used to monitor one’s glucose control.

It’s also been shown to have a significant affect on lowering fasting triglyceride levels. Triglyceride levels can rise from a number of things: eg. alcohol consumption, high sugar intake, obesity, insulin resistance, and being physically inactive. High triglyceride levels can lead to medical issues such as heart disease, pancreatitis, and stroke.

Insulin sensitivity has been increased while on tirzepatide. When you have a higher insulin sensitivity, your body has better control over your blood sugar levels. Also helping reduce your risk of other health complications.
